Pastor Zach Harris

Pastor Zach Harris has been an ordained minister with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) for over 29 years. He grew up in Goldsboro, NC with his parents and one brother, Mark, who is currently a professor of chemistry at Washington and Jefferson College in Pennsylvania. Pastor Zach attended Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory, NC achieving degrees in English, Classics and Theology. He then attended the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg in Pennsylvania where he attained Master of Divinity and Master of Sacred Theology degrees. He was ordained in 1991 and has served congregations in North Carolina, Texas, Florida, and Connecticut, as well as now in Virginia.

Pastor Zach and his wife, Karen, have two adult children: Brittany who is an actress and lives in California and Ryan who is in the midst of his second year at Harvard Law School. Pastor Zach is trained as a Mission Developer with the ELCA, most recently having started and brought to full organization Rock of Ages Lutheran Church in Wildwood, Florida as well as facilitating the consolidation of two congregations into Faith Lutheran Church in Middletown, Connecticut. The creativity inherent in this background was evident in his most recent call’s unique twist on outreach ministry: a Comic-Con ministry aimed at the Geek community who are more readily reached through the stories of movies, superheroes, science fiction, or what Pastor Zach likes to refer to as “The Modern Metaphor,” in relation to the Gospel.

God’s blessings!
